Ses Covetes

Ses Covetes, or Freu de Ses Covetes, is a beautiful beach of virgin sand very popular with the residents of Mallorca, located in a residential area of the same name in the municipality of Campos.

Located between Sa Ràpita and the well-known beach of Es Trenc, it has two unmarked areas: the one closest to Sa Ràpita, with 200 metres of fine sand, and Es Freu, a rocky and less crowded area where nudism is common.

Ses Covetes is part of the Es Trenc – Salobrar de Campos Area of Special Natural Interest, along with Es Trenc and the salt plants located behind it, being the second most important wetland area on the island following S’Albufera, which is frequented every year by hundreds of bird species.

Its paradisiacal beauty, the availability of services and the shallow waters make it an ideal beach to enjoy with the family and although in summer it tends to be quite busy, it is not as busy as its neighbouring beaches.

Regardless of the area of Mallorca where you are staying, access to this beach is easy as it is located next to Es Trenc, which is perfectly signposted.

If you come from Palma de Mallorca you should head towards Llucmajor and, once there, take junction 26 towards S’Estanyol. After about 6km you will find a turning on your left that points the way to Es Trenc. Follow the signs and you will arrive at the parking area of Ses Covetes.

From other areas of Mallorca your best option is to head for Campos and from there continue on to the towns of Sa Ràpita or Ses Salines, where you will once again find the signs that will take you to the Es Trenc path.

Getting to Ses Covetes by boat

It is increasingly common to see boats dropping anchor and spending the day in front of the beaches of Mallorca.

The area of Ses Covetes is good for anchoring as it has a sandy bottom at a depth of 7 metres and is protected from the north and east winds.

The nearest ports are those of Sa Ràpita, located 1 nautical mile from the beach, and Colonia de Sant Jordi, about 5 miles away, where you can rent a boat with or without a skipper to spend the day in Ses Covetes.

But yes! Bear in mind that it is in a protected area and that you will have to be careful not to drop the anchor on any posidonia plains.

Facilities in Ses Covetes

Freu de Ses Covetes is very popular with families with children, as despite being an unspoilt beach it has all the necessary facilities for the comfort of bathers.

It has toilets, which are located on the beach itself, and a lifeguard service, as well as sun loungers and parasols for hire if you forget to bring your own. Be aware that you won’t find any shaded areas on this beach!

If you feel like having a snack, you can do so at the Ses Covetes beach bar.

Nudism in Ses Covetes

Although nudism is permitted on Mallorca’s beaches and coves, the truth is that, due to its naturist tradition, there are some places where it is more advisable to practise it.

As her neighbour Es Trenc, Ses Covetes is one of the main nudist beaches in Mallorca, where naturists are most likely to concentrate on the rocky area on the far left, close to the islet Na Gavina, although there are no designated areas for this purpose.

Things to do in Ses Covetes

As it is located in a practically virgin enclave, there are only a few activities you can do in Ses Covetes apart from resting and sunbathing or snorkelling in its crystal-clear waters. There is no water sports area or equipment rental facilities.

Although if you are going to spend more than a day in the area or if you are one of those who gets bored lying on a towel, you can visit some interesting places in the surrounding area. Here are some ideas!

Visit the islet of Cabrera

About 13km from the beach of Ses Covetes is Colonia de Sant Jordi, a tourist resort that we recommend as one of the best places to stay in Mallorca and which is located in front of the Parque Nacional Marítimo – Terrestre del Archipiélago de Cabrera (National Maritime-Land Park of the Cabrera Archipelago).

Would you like to enjoy a day on the islet of Cabrera, learn about its history and take a dip in the famous Blue Cave? If you are traveling to the island during the summer months, you can book your visit here, departing from Colonia de Sant Jordi. Without a doubt, it is one of the best excursions you can do during your trip to Mallorca.

Enjoy a cocktail with live music

If you decide to extend the day and watch the sunset from the beach of Ses Covetes or from its neighbouring beach Es Trenc we recommend that you visit S’Embat, a mythical beach bar in Mallorca with a hippie atmosphere which has live musical performances and where you can have dinner or a beer.

Hotels in Ses Covetes

You will not find hotels or appartments along Ses Covetes beach, as it is located in an area declared a Maritime-Terrestrial Natural Park and no buildings may be constructed in its vicinity.

Even so, Ses Covetes is very close to Colonia de Sant Jordi, one of our favourite places to stay in Mallorca, so finding accommodation near the beach will be easy.
