Cala Sant Vicenç, or Cala San Vicente, is an old fishing village located in the northwest of Mallorca, halfway between Pollença – the municipality to which it belongs – and Port de Pollença. Today, it is one of the most important tourist resorts on the island and not a beach, as many people think.
It is a complex set in spectacular surroundings, ending (or being the beginning!) of the magnificent Sierra de Tramuntana, specifically in an area called Cavall Bernat; where you will find a large hotel infrastructure, restaurants, shops and four coves with crystal-clear waters surrounded by cliffs: Cala Barques, Cala Clara, Cala Molins and Cala Carbó.
An ideal area to disconnect and enjoy the environment as a couple or with your family, far from some of the typical tourist sights of the island, as well as for nature lovers.

There are several ways to get to Cala Sant Vicenç, but the most convenient is by car or rental car. Although it is a popular tourist destination and is well served by public transport, the area is a long way from the most important towns, so it will take you quite a while to get there.

The village of Cala Sant Vicenç is located about 7km from the municipality of Pollença, so the first thing you will have to do is head towards that town from the point on the island where you are.
Once there, follow the signs to Port de Pollença along the Ma-2220 road surrounding Pollença. After 1.5 km you will reach the Cala Sant Vicenç crossroads, where you must turn left and take the Ma-2203. Continue 3km more until you reach the town and go straight on along an avenue that will take you to the sea, specifically to the beach of Cala Barques.
If you don’t have an accommodation with parking or you are just visiting, you can make use of one of the two free car parks next to the beaches or park in one of the streets of the residential area.

What to do in Cala Sant Vicenç
Although Cala Sant Vicenç is one of the most popular tourist destinations and has a great infrastructure, it is located in a paradisiacal enclave.
Due to its privileged location in the north of the island and the natural environment that surrounds it, it is an ideal destination both for those looking to relax on the sand and for those looking to combine it with mountain tourism.
Relax on the beaches of Cala Sant Vicenç
The coast of Cala San Vicente is made up of four beautiful coves, which are good for relaxing and spending the day lying in the sun, except when the wind blows from the north and the waves are very strong, and bathing is totally forbidden.
It is important to point out that in summer the presence of jellyfish and sea urchins hidden in the sand in the area is frequent, so you should be aware of the warnings indicating their presence.

Cala Barques
Cala Barques (which is not the same beach as Cala Varques) is a small sandy cove about 85 metres long and 40 metres wide, flanked by rocky areas and a small breakwater on the left, which reminds us of the fishing origins of the town of Cala Sant Vicenç.
The accessibility, the fact of being the first of the beaches of the set, the amount of available services on the beach and the existence of a large hotel infrastructure causes Cala Barques to be somewhat overcrowded during the summer months, so if you are looking for a quiet environment you should avoid this beach or opt for one of the other coves in the area.
Cala Clara
Cala Clara is the second of the beaches and coves that form part of Cala Sant Vicenç and is so named because of its fine white sand and the transparency of its waters. It is smaller than Cala Barques, about 25 metres long and 20 metres wide, and although the beach area is sandy, its seabed is rocky.
Unlike its nearby beaches, this cove does not have any services, but it has been squeezed between a hotel on one side and houses on the other, losing its paradisiacal appearance over the years. Even so, thanks to the huge staircase that has to be crossed to get down to it, it maintains a certain sense of intimacy and both the beach and its waters are kept perfectly clean.
Cala Molins
The beach of Cala Molins is the largest of the coves that make up the Cala Sant Vicenç complex and, possibly, the best known. It is a sandy beach about 50 metres long and 40 metres wide, and is separated from its neighbouring Cala Clara by Punta de la Torre, so called because of the medieval defence tower that stood there until the 1950s.

Despite its small size, Cala Molins has all the necessary services to make our day at the beach more comfortable. It has toilets and showers, litter bins and a parasol and sun lounger rental service. During the summer months, there is also a lifeguard and the possibility of renting paddle surfboards or kayaks.
Cala Carbó
🏖️ Do not confuse this cove in Pollença with the beach of Es Carbó, in the southeast of Mallorca.
Cala Carbó is the furthest cove from the centre of Cala Sant Vicenç and, unlike the other three, it is practically unspoilt. Made of rocks and pebbles, this small cove is about 30 metres long and 20 metres wide and the only building on the beach is a small pier next to some fishermen’s huts.
Although it is not classified as a nudist beach, it is common to find people practising naturism in the furthest area. Its difficult access and the fact that it has no services make it the least crowded of the four coves.

Sail on board a boat
It is well known that one of the best ways to get to know Mallorca is by boat, as you can visit beaches and hidden coves that are difficult to reach on foot and enjoy unbeatable views of the island.
The area of Cala Sant Vicenç is suitable for anchoring as long as the sea is calm, as it is very exposed to winds from the north and north-east. In addition, boulders or rocks can be found at the bottom as you approach the different coves.
⛵ In this case our advice is to rent a boat with a captain in the Port of Pollença, the nearest port. Enjoying Cala Sant Vicenç from a boat or a sailboat can be a unique experience and the captain will be a professional who knows the area and can also show you the best kept secrets of the island.
Enjoy water sports and aquatic activities
The beaches of Cala Sant Vicenç are ideal for water sports such as paddle surfing and canoeing. If you don’t have your own equipment, you can rent your board or kayak temporarily on the beach of Cala Molins.
🏥 As you may have read, we always recommend purchasing a travel insurance policy in order to travel with the best guarantees, even for short trips. If you come with the idea of enjoying the fun that the crystal clear waters of Mallorca have to offer, don’t think twice and contract your IATI insurance with a 5% discount for being a reader of Yo soy Mallorca.
Search for buried treasure
This area is also ideal for diving and snorkelling. Very close to the beaches of Cala Barques and Cala Clara, a Greek ship dating from the 5th century B.C. was discovered at a depth of just a few metres, which is why it is common to find remains of this and other more recent shipwrecks around these coves.
Visit the prehistoric caves of s’Alzinaret
If, like us, you are passionate about history, you should know that at the entrance to the town of Cala San Vicente you will find the necropolis of s’Alzinaret, a group of artificial caves dating from the pre-Talayotic period.
Take a hiking route
It is possible to follow many hiking routes in the area. If you are traveling with the youngest members of the family, there is a very easy excursion that starts from the pine forest near Cala Barques beach to Puig de l’Àguila, passing through La Mola. If you want to add difficulty, you can extend the route to Cornavaques.
Another option is to take a route along the path of the Coves Blanques or Camí dels Presos, a set of paths, caves and trenches where artillery pieces were to be placed during the Civil War, although they were never installed.
Restaurants in Cala San Vicente
If there is one thing that makes this area stand out, it is its stunning surroundings and, consequently, its views of the sea and the cliffs of the Serra de Tramuntana.; and these can be enjoyed especially from the multiple restaurants in Cala San Vicente on the beachfront, specialised in Mediterranean and Mallorcan cuisine. Particularly noteworthy:
- El Vicenç de la Mar: the gastronomic offer of this hotel has been designed by Santi Taura, one of the most renowned chefs in Mallorca and with a Michelin star, with a menu that highlights local and seasonal products.

- Ca’l Patró: in our opinion, this restaurant is one of the best value for money restaurants in Cala Sant Vicenç, so it is usually very busy. It specialises in Mallorcan cuisine and has beautiful views of the beach.
- Bar Mallorca: if you are looking for a simpler bar-restaurant where you can have a coffee, a quick bite to eat or enjoy a few drinks, the terrace of Bar Mallorca will meet your expectations.
